What is g4?

G4 is a lay-led, group-based counseling ministry built around two nine-step models of change. G4 provides a context for participants to invest a season of their life overcoming a life-dominating struggle of sin or suffering. With the support of their fellow group members, G4 participants work through a biblically based curriculum focused on their primary life struggle.

All groups meet on Thursdays at 6:30pm, beginning September 25th, at the Reclamation Community Center. Registration for all groups can be found here.

Freedom Groups (Co-Ed)
Facilitator: paul scott

Description

A general church-based recovery curriculum that offers freedom from stubborn strongholds and hope for enduring suffering. We believe that people can find lasting freedom in Jesus Christ, no matter their personal struggle. Freedom Groups offer more than recovery from an addiction or new coping mechanisms. It is a 13-session intensive small group experience that provides help, hope, and healing only found in the gospel. We will see that freedom means no longer being enslaved by our functional gods like pleasure, control, or worldly comforts. We will also be reminded to live under grace, not to fall back under the yoke of trying to prove our worth. The grace of God is not opposed to effort, but it is opposed to earning God’s love. Only once we understand that Christ died for our sins and His sacrifice is the only way back to the love of God are we truly free.

peaceful eating (co-ed)
Facilitator: ruth harper

Description

Do you struggle in your relationship with food and your body? Do you purposefully withhold food from yourself, eat mindlessly, or feel out of control around food? Are you always thinking about food or shaming yourself for your body size or shape? Does it interfere with your relationship with God and your joy in being His child? If this resonates for you, join us for Peaceful Eating at G4!  We will be discussing the book Table for Two by David and Krista Dunham in a safe space for sharing your experiences and seeking God together. This is not a weight loss group! It is not a substitute for therapy and will not provide nutrition plans. It will be a look at the deeper issues that lead to destructive food behaviors in the context of your relationship with God. Please purchase the book and read the introduction for the first meeting. Feel free to contact Ruth Harper at 724-961-3817 with questions.
